Meditations 1- art

Descartes starts to believe that the basic eyes, head, hands, and body are true. This is because he finds that artists will paint many creatures and imaginary things but they will still contain eyes, head, hands, and a body. Whether it is from different animals or made up things there always seems to be these parts of the body. I find this kind of interesting because Descartes always seems to question himself and everything around. He is very doubtful and I think he is starting to find out some truths..

i found that aspect of descartes' thinking to be pretty interesting as well. i did a blog about dreaming a while ago in which i talked about how descartes said that although we may dream of imaginary characters, they are made up of real things although they may be cross-threaded with their consistency. in other words, you may see a tiger at a zoo, a friend at the mall, and a hospital on tv one day. then one night you dream of a doctor with a tiger's head taking care of your friend. although your mind made up that imaginary scenario and it seems original, it is actually made up of jumbled information that we were already exposed to.
