The afterlife and cogito connection Dotto

The cogito argument got me to thinking about matters concerning the afterlife. If the mind is truly metaphysically independent of the body then would that mean our mind is also our soul? or does our mind just die with our bodies?

Yes, I would have to say I think our mind is also our soul, a spiritual connection with our body in a sense, and i do not think our minds die with our bodies at all..our minds (souls) live on even after peoples bodies have passed, like Descartes says, we are all wax, and no matter what happens to the wax (even if you bring it near a fire) in the end, we still remain...

i'll have to disagree with that. i think the after life is what you personally think it is. spirituality, belief, and logic all play into but afterlife is how you make it. i don't think it can be pin-pointed to one thing or another. so, if you think that the body dies but the mid remains or whatever, that's how afterlife is going to be for you.
